We're not the saviour.
We're the bridge.

Since 2014 we've raised funds for rainforest restoration. We've been rebuilding ourselves around a harder, truer idea: that the people best placed to heal this Country are the ones who have known it for over 65,000 years.

This page is the public statement of a working principle. It sits beneath every decision we make, every campaign, every partnership, every dollar that moves through our accounts. We publish it here so you can hold us to it.

Half the world's
forests are gone.

Half of Australia's forests are gone.

This is not a statistic. It's a warning.

We have twelve years
to get this right.

The science is settled and the window is narrow. What's not settled, what we believe is the real unfinished work of the Australian environmental sector, is who gets to lead the response.

For two centuries, the answer has been: experts, agencies, organisations like ours. That answer has produced the world we currently live in. It is time to try a different one.

The people who have cared for this continent for sixty thousand years still hold the knowledge. They still hold the authority. What they have often not held is the resources, the platform, or the power to act at the scale their knowledge deserves. HalfCut exists to change that, not by adding our voice to theirs, but by getting out of the way and making sure the resources land where they always should have.

What we
stand for.

Four commitments. They sit above every other decision we make, and they do not flex for convenience, partner pressure, or funding opportunity. If a program, a campaign, or a partnership conflicts with one of these, the commitment wins.

Country comes
first.

The forests, the water, the species, the systems. They are not a backdrop. They are the reason we exist, and they are the measure of everything we do.

Traditional
Owners lead.

On the ground, in the governance, in the language. Our job is to resource and amplify, not to represent, translate, or speak over.

Money moves
honestly.

Ninety-two cents in every dollar flows to on-Country work. Every figure published here is independently audited. No soft accounting.

We say the
hard thing.

The mission is too urgent for careful language. If a partner, a practice, or an idea is not working, we will say so, in public, plainly.

Who we'll
work with. Who
we won't.

Every corporate partner we carry on this site has been assessed against the same values framework Traditional Owner partners assess us against. We publish both lists because opacity is its own kind of saviour behaviour.

We say yes to

Values-aligned, long-horizon partners.

Businesses whose core model is compatible with the world we are trying to restore.
Organisations prepared to fund operational capacity, not just campaign visibility.
Philanthropists willing to defer to Traditional Owner governance on program decisions.
Partners who treat this as a twelve-year relationship, not a twelve-month activation.

We say no to

Extraction, greenwash, or saviour framing.

Fossil fuels, native forest logging, industrial agribusiness at scale.
Funding that is conditional on creative control, brand placement, or narrative direction.
Partnerships that ask Traditional Owner partners to perform culture or language for marketing.
One-off offset arrangements that treat restoration as a carbon accounting line item.

A short list
by design.

Every partner is assessed against the framework above and confirmed in writing. Rather than a wall of unverified logos, our verified partner list lives on the Partners page, and organisations join through The HalfCut Canopy.

We acknowledge the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people as the Traditional Owners of the Country on which our core restoration work takes place, and the Gadigal and Bundjalung people of the Country on which we meet, plan, and publish.

We pay respects to Elders past and present, and we recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
